Would you like to review your favourite business book?

One of the things I've been meaning to include on the SmallBizPod blog for some time is a category featuring reviews of business books.

I'm certainly going to start posting some reviews over the next few months and wondered whether any of you guys would like to contribute to the blog too? My opinion is one thing, but I think it's always good to include the views of others who may have a different perspective.

Reviews would need to be no more than 400 words long. Of course, you'd receive full attribution.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Cheers

Alex

Im about halfway into Getting Real - " ... the business, design, programming, and marketing philosophies of 37signals.

I would recommend it, particularly to anyone developing a web application - not necessarily to be followed dogmatically but as a fascinating alternative approach.

I'll try to submit a proper review when I finish it.

David.

Hi Alex

I recently bought a copy of William Taylor and Polly LaBarr's Mavericks at Work, after hearing them interviewed on one of your podcasts. I would be delighted to summarise my impressions (well-argued and thought-provoking book, in case you are wondering).

I also bought Bob Sutton's The No Asshole Rule, and Sutton and Pfeffer's Hard Facts, Half Truths and Total Nonsense. I suppose these two might only be relevant if people are interested in organisational behaviour - as I am.

My favourite book on entrepreneurship is Sahar Hashemi's Anyone Can Do It. Along with her brother, she set up Coffee Republic. I would gladly review this if SBP peeps thought it sounded interesting.

OK. The coalface awaits.

Mavericks at Work's a great book. Would love to see a review from you Anne Marie and also Sahar Hashemi's, but only if you have any time and energy when you reappear at the top of the mineshaft!

Hi David

I haven't read it but have heard 37 signals dudes on podcasts. Working in heavy-duty public-sector web land I love their approach and the whole boot-strap zero budget thing is great. I suspect it helps if you are a well-connected uber-genius with industry profile though!

Now there's a new thread, or indeed a new book: 'how to become a well-connected uber-genius with industry profile'! ;)
